Objective & Mission
The mission of Furqaan Project is to deliver a FREE copy of the English Translation of the Message of the Quran to every household, every hospital room, every hotel room, and other group residential facilities such as retirement homes, college dormitories, etc. in the United States. We also supply our Dawah-oriented translation of the Quran to other organizations and individuals involved in the efforts of Dawah such as Dawah in prisons.
Additionally, we aim to make available all the necessary resources about Islam, that include books, booklets, brochures, audio CDs, DVDs, telephone helpline, online stores, a website full of necessary content and experienced speakers.
Islam being a practical religion recognizes that different people have different abilities and has provided avenues for those who may not be able to dedicate a lot of time to fulfill this obligation.
“ Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity.“ Surah Ali Imran, Verse 104
Scholars have interpreted this verse to mean that the Ummah must provide dawah with all the organization and support it needs. This can actually be the best way to fulfill our obligation towards dawah. Furqaan Project takes direction from this verse and serves as a conduit within an organizational framework to allow Muslims to communicate the message and fulfill their obligation by making donations for this purpose. Al-Furqaan takes the charitable donations and promptly distributes a corresponding copy of the Quran on their behalf to a non-Muslim, in accordance with a board-approved plan of execution.
Of course the total Dawah process is more than just delivering the Quran to a non-Muslim. Through an extensive network of co-operating organizations, Imams, social workers, masajid, dawah centers, etc., Furqaan Project will coordinate all the different tasks of dawah that arise from the point a copy of the Quran reaches a non-Muslim. From the supplying of additional literature to direct consultation, Furqaan Project and its partners will manage the entire ” supply chain” of dawah activities.
Al-Furqaan derives its inspiration from many ahadith and Qurananic ayats that reveal the importance of doing Dawah individually, collectively, and organizationally. It is indeed an obligation upon every Muslim.
“ Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.“ Surah An-Nahl, Verse 125
” By (the token of) time (through the ages); verily man is in loss, except such as have faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of truth, and of patience and constancy.“ Surah Al-Asr, Verse 1 ” 3
The Prophet (SAW) has said ” Convey from me, even one verse” (al-Bukhari). Conveying the message does not even require a complete knowledge of Islam. It is however a responsibility that one must convey the message to his or her ability. Allah (SWT) has also promised great reward in fulfilling this obligation of dawah. Calling people to Allah also means completing our own worship, the reason for which we are created. It is one of the noblest acts that entail a high reward.
“and who is better in speech than he who invites to Allah and does righteous deeds, and says: “˜I am one of the Muslims‘.” Surah Fussilat, Verse 33
” Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down, and the Guidance, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, -on them shall be Allah’s curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse,- except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): To them I turn; for I am Oft-returning, Most Merciful.” Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 159-160
Regarding the same, the Prophet has stated, ” Whoever hides knowledge, Allah will brand him with the branding iron from the hellfire.”[Ahmad]
