Why is Quran distribution so critical, especially during these times?

Umar ibn Al-Khattab, a staunch opponent of Islam and a fierce persecutor of the Muslims, experienced a transformative moment that led to his acceptance of Islam in 616 CE, during the sixth year of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)’s prophetic mission. Known for his intense hostility towards Islam, Umar initially resolved to kill the Prophet (SAW) to end what he perceived was a threat to the unity of the Quraysh tribe and their traditions.

On his way to execute his plan, Umar was informed by Nu’aym ibn Abdullah that his own sister and brother-in-law had embraced Islam. Furious, Umar went to his sister’s home and confronted her. Upon hearing them reciting verses of the Quran, specifically from Surah Taha, Umar became enraged and struck his sister, causing her to bleed. However, her calm and firm stance moved him deeply. She refused to let him touch the Quran until he purified himself, so Umar washed, returned, and read the verses. The beauty and power of the Quran softened his heart, and he immediately sought out the Prophet (SAW) at the house of Arqam.

Instead of harm, Umar declared his faith in Allah (SWT) and His Messenger (SAW), embracing Islam on the spot. Umar ibn Al-Khattab’s story is one of the most powerful narrations that testify to why the distribution of the Quran is so critical, even in today’s modern era.

The Quran is a guide, a comfort, and a source of strength for billions of Muslims worldwide. It answers the deepest questions of our hearts, reminds us of our Creator, and provides clarity in a world that often feels more confusing. However, for so many people around the world, this treasure is still out of reach. When we share a copy of the Quran to someone, we are offering them the best and easiest access to hope, guidance, and peace. Many complain that these virtues are so difficult to obtain, and that an individual has to go to great lengths in order to achieve them, but why have we made this journey so difficult for them when the easiest solution for this is the Quran?

When we distribute the Quran, we are doing something extremely profound. We share not just words, we are sharing the noor, the light of Allah (SWT). The Quran has the ability to cross over every boundary—culture, language, and geography. It carries with it a universal message of justice, peace, and compassion. Every Quran that reaches someone new is an opportunity for them to explore its message. To reflect. To connect with Allah (SWT). And, maybe, change their lives forever!

This is why an organization like Furqaan Project is heavily dedicated to this mission. We ensure that the Quran reaches people, no matter who they are or where they live — because everyone deserves a chance to experience the guidance and beauty of Islam. For a single person, the Quran can be a lifeline during difficult times. For a community, it can bring unity, hope, and shared values. Imagine the impact of making the Quran accessible to someone who has never had the chance to read its words. That’s the kind of transformation Quran distribution creates.

So, how can you get involved to help us?
